Swedish house music luminary Axel Hedfors – AKA Axwell – has today given fans around the world a final chance to win an all expenses paid trip to Stockholm at the end of August, for one lucky contestant and a friend to be part of his first major live solo show since the Swedish House Mafia parted ways in March of this year!
As one of Denmark’s most celebrated DJs, MORTEN is no stranger to the spotlight. Characterized by his eclectic take on progressive, electro-house and dubstep, its to no surprise he’s caught the attention of dance music’s biggest trend- setters. ‘Look Closer’ originally debuted on Avicii’s LE7ELS podcast back in February, and has picked up the pace as the backing track for Morten’s Miami recap video. An official release is set for August 6th on PRMD Records, headquartered in none other than Stockholm.
After coming across numerous mashups/bootlegs of Tiesto & Dyro’s “Paradise,” it only seemed necessary to compile a list of the most elite ones. While the original is powerful enough as an instrumental, the added vocals/acapellas satisfy the vocal enthusiasts whilst making the track more festival/party ready. After one year, the world’s #2 DJ, Tiësto, brings us his long-awaited third installment to the Club Life album series; this time paying homage to one of electronica’s most important cities, Stockholm, Sweden. As expected, Tiësto’s own work is the bread and butter of this compilation album. Several of these hits like “Paradise” (with Dyro) and “Back To The Acid” (with MOTi) debuted at Ultra. Aside from the original content, established hits by other DJs see some remixes in this album (Calvin Harris’ “Sweet Nothing”).
“On this compilation you can hear the influence of the new generation of Dutch and Swedish DJs. When I listen back to this mix and the tracks that I produced and remixed, it takes me back to special places and very fond memories of Stockholm. I feel like I became a little bit Swedish over the years and I can honestly say that Stockholm will always be in my heart.” – Tiësto
Below the break, you can read our take on each track, as well as the track’s original release date and label. The title will link to our original post about the track.
Closing in on a week until his Club Life Volume 3: Stockholm releases, Tiësto previews another track off the highly anticipated album. Here, Tiesto takes Icona Pop’s smash original “I Love It” and twists it for the dance floor by adding an entirely new bassline, melody and massive drop. Out June 18th as a part of the 16 track album.
After exploring the Las Vegas and Miami dance scenes with Club Life 1 and 2 respectively, Tiesto takes to the streets of Stockholm, Sweden for Volume 3 of his Club Life album series. The album leads off with one of the most anticipated tracks of the summer, Tiesto’s “Paradise” collaboration with Dyro. Other notable tracks include Tiesto’s remix of Zedd’s “Clarity,” Hardwell’s “Apollo,” and Alesso’s remix of OneRepublic’s “If I Lose Myself.” We see more unreleased work by Tiesto himself than what was heard in Volume 2 which certainly adds to the eagerness of its full release.
“I moved to Stockholm in February 2009 and now spend several months there every year. The Swedes are enormously talented in fashion, music and art, which is extremely inspiring for me when I work on new tracks. There are also lots of great clubs within walking distance from the city center that makes Stockholm a very friendly place to party. This mix album perfectly encapsulates my Stockholm Club Life experience.” – Tiesto
